In 2015, 8z Real Estate continued its mission that “real estate is broken, and we are fixing it” by training and supporting 8z Realtors to be knowledgeable local market experts.
The majority of the new recruits to 8z came from outside industries, including former military, professional sales, and other corporate backgrounds. As COO Stefan Peterson commented, “We want to recruit talent wherever we can find it, and the pool of professional talent is actually larger outside of the real estate industry than inside. We can fix real estate by bringing in fresh talent and supporting them to become local experts who put clients first.” In 2015, 8z hired 46 new Realtors.
The company created additional training and support for new 8z Realtors with 8z Academy, a seven day training program that educates them how to use the 8z systems and marketing programs that are already in place, along with adding structure to the mentoring program provided by 8z Team Leaders. Even while hiring many brand new Realtors, the per Realtor sales volume increased year over year.
8z continued its investment in providing the best technology for consumers by shifting resources away from COhomefinder.com to its newer search site, 8z.com. Also, the company launched a new spinoff business, zavvie.com, which will serve local home owners, by being the best resource for hyperlocal info about real estate and home prices in their neighborhood.

Looking forward to 2016, 8z plans to continue to grow by hiring one great Realtor at a time. 8z plans to fill out their offices with complete teams which include Team Leaders, Admin Coordinators, Realtors, and complete support from 8z affiliates: 8z Title, 8z Mortgage, 8z Rentals, and 8z Insurance.
Training great agents will continue to be an emphasis. In 2016, 8z’s Burlingame CA office will host a Ninja installation. Peterson commented that “8z believes in the Ninja System as it is not the stereotypical sales training program, but rather teaches Realtors how to focus on helping their clients and build stronger relationships. We believe that when a Realtor puts their client first, and becomes a neighborhood expert, they become a great asset to their community.”
